Beyond Transient Ties

Those were the days of so much fun,

Barefoot upon the green grass we would run,

Unperturbed by the relentless sun,

Fighting over silly games we won.

In the simpler times, oh how we fought,

But barring them aside, also we taught,

To each other, lessons a lot,

Always to the other's aid when caught.

We had our dreams,

And oh, how we screamed,

One day to return the Kohinoor and cream,

Back to saffron, white and green.

Giggling away, we would talk,

Hand in hand we would walk,

You wore my past years' frock,

With fluted socks, oh how we rocked!

Our blessed childhood was worth a note,

And now even though we sail on different boats,

Connected through thoughts, and words we wrote,

Forging an eternal bond, beyond all moats.

My dear sis, thank you for overlooking the broken fence,

And admiring the flowers in my garden hence,

Always willing to see through my lens,

Even when it didn't make sense.

You and I grew up together,

And others we found of the same feather,

Tied with an everlasting tether,

Beyond transient seas and all moods of the weather.
